Will this fit under my sink?
PiTec 2-in-1 It is 31 cm high and 12.3 cm wide, or 34.4 cm including the wall bracket. You’ll need to allow for an additional 5 cm or so at the bottom for changing the cartridge, so you should allow for an installation height of just under 40 cm. It weighs 1.6 kg when empty. It fits into almost any base cabinet, even next to the trap.
The connection This is connected to the cold-water pipe under the sink, where the angle valve is currently fitted. You will need a flexible connecting hose and Teflon tape for this.
Your tap will stay just as it is. No second tap will be fitted, and no holes will be drilled in the worktop. Once installed, filtered water will flow from your usual tap.

Turn off the stop valve two minutes
That’s the small valve under the sink, where the hose is attached to your tap.

Run the flexible hose from the angle valve to the filter, and from the filter back to the tap. Seal the threads with Teflon tape. That’s all there is to it.

The intensive filter removes anything that doesn’t belong in the water. The PI filter uses 21 mineral ceramics and allows calcium, magnesium and trace elements to pass through. In the 2-in-1 system, both are housed in a single cartridge. No waste water, no tank, no electricity.
Filtering is one part of the process. The other is regeneration.
In nature, good water isn’t produced in a plant, but along a journey. Rainwater seeps through layers of sand, gravel and rock. As it does so, it loses what doesn’t belong in it and absorbs what makes it rich in minerals. Eventually, it emerges from the mountain as spring water.
This is exactly the path your tap water takes in the PiTec. In the second stage, it passes through 21 mineral ceramics modelled on natural geological layers. This is the part you wouldn’t expect from an under-sink filter, and the reason why we talk about ‘regeneration’ rather than just ‘filtering’.

Trihalomethanes are formed when chlorine in water reacts with organic compounds.
That is the whole idea behind PI technology: the filter stage removes the substances that do not belong in the water. The minerals that make good water remain in it. That is the difference compared to reverse osmosis, which removes the minerals along with the pollutants.
No waste water, no tank, no electricity. Tap water comes in, filtered water comes out of the usual tap.
And what about the lime?
Perhaps you’ve ended up here because you’re looking for a limescale filter for your tap. So, first things first – here’s what you need to know to make the right choice: The PiTec 2-in-1 is a drinking water filter, not a limescale protection device. If limescale is a problem for you, you need the PiTec Professional. It has its own limescale protection module.
What this module does
Traditional water softeners remove limescale through an ion-exchange process. They draw the limescale out and, in return, release sodium into the water – the main component of table salt. That is why there is a sack of salt in the cellar.
The limescale protection module takes a different approach and combines two methods in a single module. The formulation is produced in-house.

The first method removes some of the limescale.
It binds calcium and magnesium, converting the dissolved lime into carbon dioxide and water in the process. This amount is not replaced by anything else. It disappears without a single grain of salt being added.
The second method neutralises the rest.
Starting from tiny points, dissolved calcium coalesces into microscopic crystals that float freely in the water. Limescale that is already present as a fully formed crystal no longer has any reason to stick to the inside of a pipe or a heating element.
The result: Some of the limescale is removed from your water, whilst the rest remains in it without causing any harm. No sodium, no need to top up with salt, no electricity. And what doesn’t end up in the water: no chlorine, no phosphorus, no sodium, no acids.
How far does that go in your flat?
Exactly where you get your water for drinking and cooking. PiTec is fitted in the cold-water pipe leading to your kitchen tap. Whatever you draw from this tap is filtered: water for the coffee machine, the kettle and for cooking.
This does not include the boiler, washing machine, dishwasher or shower head. These are connected to different pipes. If you want to tackle limescale throughout the house, you’ll need a Peka filter fitted at the property’s water connection, not an under-sink filter.
Calcium and magnesium remain in the product, and that is by design. The Peka also removes some of the hardness and reduces the rest. Which PiTec is right for you?
The 2-in-1 is the right choice for the vast majority of kitchens. Two filter stages in a single cartridge, replaced once a year, usually fitted by the user.
The Professional has a background in the catering industry. Four individual modules in four housings, 8 to 10 litres per minute, designed for restaurant kitchens, cafés and offices. It’s listed here because it can do two things that the 2-in-1 can’t: limescale protection and continuous operation. If you have hard water or use a great deal of water every day, this is the right choice. Otherwise, it’s overkill.

Do I need a new tap for an under-sink water filter?
Not with PiTec. The drinking water filter is connected to the cold-water pipe; your existing tap will then supply filtered water. There is no need for a second tap or a hole in the worktop.
Does PiTec fit under any sink?
The PiTec 2-in-1 is 31.2 cm high, 12.3 cm wide and 11.5 cm deep. With the wall bracket fitted, it measures 34.4 cm, and you’ll need around 5 cm of clearance at the bottom for changing the cartridge: allow for an installation height of just under 40 cm. Anyone who’s ever changed a siphon can fit the 2-in-1 in half an hour: angle valve, flexible connecting hose, Teflon tape. Otherwise, any plumber can do it; we’ll provide them with everything they need. For the Professional model, we recommend using a specialist plumber; it is available pre-assembled.
Where exactly is the filter connected – to the angle valve?
Yes, on the cold-water pipe under the sink, where the angle valve is fitted. From there, the water flows through the filter and back to your tap.
How often does the cartridge need to be replaced, and how much does it cost?
For the 2-in-1 model, a cartridge costing €269.– is required approximately once a year. With the Professional model, the basic filter (€70.–) and intensive filter (€170.–) are replaced annually, whilst the limescale filter (€149.–) and PI filter (€260.–) are replaced every three years. You can easily change them yourself: it takes about five minutes, no tools required, and the housing key is included. All cartridges are available directly from the shop.
What is the difference between PiTec 2-in-1 and Professional?
The 2in1 combines an intensive filter and a PI filter in a single cartridge and provides filtered drinking water for the kitchen. The Professional has four modules, including limescale protection and a higher flow rate. In short: the Professional is the better choice for hard water and continuous use, whilst the 2in1 is sufficient for filtered drinking water.
Am I losing water pressure at the tap?
The 2-in-1 delivers up to 8 l/min, whilst the Professional delivers 8 to 10 l/min. That’s enough for everyday use – for drinking, cooking and washing up.
Does PiTec also filter the water for the dishwasher?
No. PiTec filters the cold water pipe leading to the tap – in other words, the water used for drinking, cooking and washing up by hand. The dishwasher has its own connection.
What is the difference compared to reverse osmosis?
Reverse osmosis removes not only pollutants but also minerals from the water, and usually requires a tank, a waste water connection and space. With PiTec, the minerals remain in the water; there is no waste water, no tank and no electricity.
How much does an under-sink water filter cost?

Is PiTec a limescale filter for the tap?
The PiTec 2-in-1 does not; it is a drinking water filter without limescale protection. No salt, no salt tablets, no electricity. The key factor is its coverage: the PiTec filters only the cold water pipe leading to your kitchen tap. Coffee machines and kettles that you fill from there will benefit. Boilers, washing machines and showers will not, as they are connected to different pipes. For limescale throughout the house, the Peka domestic water filter is the right solution.
What is the difference between this and a tap-mounted filter?

What is the difference compared to a filter containing only activated carbon?
Activated carbon removes chlorine, flavourings and some of the harmful substances from the water. This is precisely what the first stage of the PiTec system does. The second stage comes into play: the PI filter uses 21 mineral ceramics that regenerate the water whilst retaining the minerals it contains. A pure activated carbon filter removes substances but does not add anything back.
What is the difference between this and a water ioniser?
An ioniser runs on electricity and alters the pH of the water through electrolysis. This is a different approach with a different aim. PiTec filters the water using only the water pressure from the mains, without electricity or any electronic components.
Can I take PiTec with me when I move house?
Yes. The filter is connected to the angle valve via two hoses and can be removed in a matter of minutes. It will be connected in exactly the same way in the new kitchen. The only thing is that the cartridge continues to age, regardless of whether the system is currently running.
What if I’m renting?
This usually works because there’s no drilling involved and nothing is permanently fitted. It connects to the existing angle valve and can be removed without leaving any traces. If in doubt, ask your landlord. If you’d rather not tamper with the pipework at all, the Kini water filter jug is the simpler solution.
Does PiTec protect my coffee machine from limescale?
If you fill the machine using the filtered tap and you have the PiTec Professional with the limescale protection module: yes, it will build up limescale more slowly. The PiTec 2-in-1 does not have limescale protection. And a machine with a fixed water connection is connected to a different pipe; the PiTec won’t notice this.
Under-sink water filters or under-counter water filters – what’s the difference?
None – these are two names for the same type of filter: a unit that is fitted under the sink into the cold-water pipe. Some manufacturers call it an under-sink filter, others an under-counter water filter. We call these systems PiTec 2-in-1 and PiTec Professional; both are under-counter water filters for the kitchen.
