How a central filtration system transforms the whole house
Peka filters the water as it enters your home, supplying every tap with spring-quality water. Here you can find out why chlorine-free shower water benefits your skin, how Pi technology protects your pipes, and what MAUNAWAI has in store for the next generation.
- Why founder Maria Knoch sought out better water specifically because of her son’s eczema, and what chlorine-free shower water means for sensitive skin
- What Peka does to your pipework: How Pi technology restructures limescale and reduces long-term limescale build-up in washing machines, dishwashers and taps
- Why every Peka system is individually configured, tailored to your water hardness, your consumption and your specific requirements
- How MAUNAWAI is working on a new, even more modular generation of Peka systems that can be specifically tailored to local water conditions
- Why some customers combine Peka with Kini and what this ‘surplus of quality’ delivers
The whole house drinks living water
Imagine this: your whole family drinks living water. But not just for drinking. For showering too. For washing. For cooking. Every tap in the house delivers spring water quality. That’s not a luxury. That’s smart. That’s Peka.
The Peka home water filtration system is a centralised filtration unit that treats the water as it enters the house, before it reaches the individual pipes. This means: every tap benefits. Not just the kitchen, not just the bathroom. The whole house.
Modular and configurable
Every home is different. Every family has different needs. Peka is tailor-made. How hard is your water? How much water does your household use each day? How big is your home? Are there any special requirements?
All these questions lead to a bespoke configuration. A detached house with four people and hard water needs something different from a block of flats with soft water. Peka adapts. The modules can be combined to function optimally.
What this means for your home
The shower water no longer contains chlorine. It’s good for your skin. Your hair feels different – more vibrant and fuller. People with sensitive skin or eczema in particular report noticeable improvements when they shower and bathe with filtered water. This is no coincidence; it was precisely this issue that led founder Maria Knoch to seek out better water almost thirty years ago.
Tap water for drinking no longer needs filter jugs; it is already filtered. The tea you make with it tastes different. Better. The coffee develops flavours you didn’t know before. The water you give your plants makes them more vibrant. The water you use to cook pasta takes on different properties. Even the ice cubes from your freezer are clearer.
These are not psychological effects. These are real changes. Water that has been regenerated rather than merely filtered behaves differently. The minerals are still there, but the pollutants are gone. The structure of the water has changed, and you can tell. In the kitchen, in the bathroom, when watering the flowers.
What Peka does for your pipes
An often overlooked benefit: Peka also protects your home’s pipes. Limescale that builds up in pipes is restructured by Pi technology. The minerals remain in the water, but less limescale builds up on the inside walls of the pipes. In the long term, this means less limescale build-up in the washing machine, the dishwasher and the taps. This saves on repair costs and extends the lifespan of your appliances.
Installation and long-term benefits
Installing a central filtration system is a one-off project. It is not complicated, but it should be done professionally. MAUNAWAI works with installers who know what they are doing. Once installed, Peka runs for years with minimal effort.
The principle is always the same: no chemicals. No salts. No complicated maintenance routines. Nature as our model.
The technology behind Peka
Peka operates on the same Pi-technology principle as all MAUNAWAI products, but on a scale designed for an entire house. The filter modules contain high-performance activated carbon, various mineral ceramics and special media for lime restructuring. The water is not simply purified; it is regenerated. It regains the structure it has lost on its journey through kilometres of municipal pipes and domestic plumbing.
Importantly, Peka does not demineralise the water. Unlike reverse osmosis systems, which produce practically distilled water, Peka water retains its natural minerals. The calcium, magnesium and trace elements are all preserved. Only the pollutants are removed. That is how it should be.
New modular version in development
MAUNAWAI is working on an even better version of the Peka system. Even more modular. Even more flexible. Even easier to install. The new generation will make it possible to tailor individual modules specifically to the local water conditions: hard water, soft water, high nitrate levels or specific pollutant loads. This isn’t just marketing talk. This is genuine development. Because MAUNAWAI never stands still. Because the Knoch family gets up every morning and asks: How can we make it even better?
Who Peka is designed for
Families who truly value good water. People who don’t want to compromise: not when drinking, not when showering, not when cooking. Homeowners who see a long-term investment not as a cost, but as an asset. Therapists and alternative practitioners who know that good water is part of good health. But also landlords who want to offer their tenants something special, and operators of small hotels or guesthouses who want to stand out from the competition through water quality.
Peka is particularly interesting for regions with particularly hard water or known nitrate contamination. In agricultural regions, the nitrate content exceeds the limit of 50 milligrams per litre at more than one in four monitoring points. Peka can make a significant contribution to water quality here, not as a substitute for municipal water treatment, but as a useful addition directly where the water is used.
Connection to other MAUNAWAI products
Interestingly, you can combine Peka with Kini. Why? Because central filtration already improves the water, but an additional cartridge on the drinking water tap makes it even better. It’s like an overabundance of quality. Some customers do this. Others say: Peka alone is enough for me. Both approaches are valid.
