Good water everywhere: even when showering and washing

MAUNAWAI thinks ahead. Living water is wonderful for drinking and cooking. But what about the water that runs over your skin? What about the water you use to wash your clothes? This is where our responsibility doesn’t end; this is where it expands.

The Eco Shower System and the Organic Laundry Ball are two small products with a big impact. They demonstrate what we truly believe: good water and sustainable living go hand in hand.

The Eco Shower System: Spring water in the bathroom

Legionella is a real problem in showers and bathrooms. It develops at certain temperatures in stagnant pipes, particularly in older buildings, hotels and buildings with long pipe runs. The Eco-Shower System uses special ceramics to solve this problem: without chemicals, without harsh disinfectants, without complex thermal disinfection.

The result? Your shower water isn’t just cleaner. It has the quality of living water. You’ll notice it straight away: your skin feels softer, less dry and less irritated. People with sensitive skin, eczema or allergies in particular report positive changes. The chlorine in tap water, which attacks the skin and damages the hair, is filtered out. What remains is water that feels as though it comes from a natural spring.

Installation couldn’t be simpler: the system is screwed between the hose and the shower head. Five minutes, no tools, no plumber required. It works with any standard shower head and requires no maintenance. Simply install it and forget about it – unless you want to be regularly reminded of how good your skin feels.

The organic washing ball: chemical-free washing

The Bio-Waschball is a minor revolution. Made from recycled plastic and filled with various ceramics. Simply pop it in the washing machine, and no detergent is needed. Really. It works.

The ceramics interact with the water and alter its structure in a way that loosens and rinses away dirt. It’s like the Pi technology principle, applied to laundry.

How the organic laundry ball works

The principle is fascinatingly simple. The ceramics inside the ball alter the surface tension of the water. This allows the water to penetrate deeper into the fibres of the fabrics and loosen dirt that has become embedded there. It is essentially the same thing that surfactants do in conventional detergents, only without the chemicals. The ceramics work with the water, not against it. And because no chemical residues remain in the fibres, the laundry is not only clean but also gentler on the skin. People with sensitive skin or allergies to fragrances benefit particularly.

The figures speak for themselves

An organic laundry ball lasts for around 1,000 washes. With two washes a week, that means a lifespan of around nine years. An organic laundry ball costs less than a box of good washing powder. That means: for around 30 euros, you have washing powder for nine years. Do the maths: even a cheap washing powder costs 10 to 15 cents per wash. Over 1,000 washes, that’s 100 to 150 euros you save.

What you save and what the planet saves

No need to buy washing powder for nine years. That’s dozens of bottles and boxes that won’t be produced. Dozens of transport journeys that won’t take place. Dozens of chemicals that won’t end up in our waterways. That’s not a marginal saving; it’s substantial.

Sustainable: not because it’s trendy, but because it’s the right thing to do

These products aren’t the company’s favourite marketing talking point. They aren’t linked to big campaigns. They exist because the Knoch family believes: if you truly believe in something, you have to live it everywhere.

The material: recycled and well thought-out

One detail that illustrates MAUNAWAI’s ethos: the organic laundry ball is made from recycled plastic. The felt covers available for glass products and water bottles are made from 100 per cent recycled PET bottles fished out of the sea. They are washed, shredded and processed into large felt mats, from which a Hungarian family business manufactures the covers. Every one of these details is a conscious decision. Sustainability doesn’t start with the end product; it starts with the material.

For the whole family

The organic laundry ball works for everyday laundry, sportswear, bed linen and towels. There are no complicated rules. It works at all standard washing temperatures, from cold washes to 60-degree boil-wash cycles. For heavily soiled laundry, you can add a small amount of detergent if needed, but in most cases the organic laundry ball does the job on its own.

The eco-shower system is just as simple: installation takes five minutes. It works with any shower head. It requires no maintenance. It works. And it makes a difference you can feel every day, in the morning in the shower, in the evening when washing your hair.
