Hand-blown glass, using gravity instead of electricity, and limescale protection from shells and corals
The PiPrime is more than just a water filter. Here you can find out why every glass container is unique, how gravity alone regenerates 12 litres of water, and what natural principle lies behind the chemical-free limescale protection.
- Why professional glassblowers craft each PiPrime container individually, and what the subtle blue hue has to do with light protection
- How the principle of heterogeneous catalysis was inspired by mussels and corals and has been restructuring lime without chemicals since 2009
- Why gravity plays a crucial role: longer contact time with the filter materials means better water quality
- What makes the PiPrime a design object and why customers say it is the most beautiful item in their kitchen
- How a single cartridge lasts up to 12 months and supplies a family with living water for a whole year
PiPrime Gravity Water Filter
More water, more time, better quality
If you have a family or simply drink a lot of water, filling the jug eventually becomes part of your daily routine. You fill it, you wait, you fill it again. The PiPrime Gravity Water Filter breaks this routine. With a 12-litre capacity, you can filter in a single day what you need for a whole week. And it all happens automatically, simply through the force of gravity. No electricity, no pump, no maintenance. Just nature at work.
Hand-blown glass: no detail too small
The PiPrime is not just a container. The glass container is handcrafted by professional glassblowers. Every piece is unique, with no inclusions and no imperfections. The glass has a subtle blue tint, not just for aesthetics, but for protection. This colour blocks out light that could affect the water. That’s Pi technology down to the last detail.
The housing is made from high-quality SAN plastic, free from plasticisers and completely BPA-free. A material that is durable and does not affect your water. This is not standard. It is a conscious choice.
Two versions for two water situations
There is the PiPrime K8 and the PiPrime K2. The K8 is designed for hard water, if your water contains a lot of limescale. The K2 is for soft water, if your tap water is already mild. Both have the same capacity: 12 litres in total, divided into a 4-litre upper tank and an 8-litre lower container. The spare parts work with both models.
Chemical-free limescale protection: inspired by nature
Here, nature proves to be our teacher. Mussels and corals build their shells without losing their properties. They use a principle known as ‘heterogeneous catalysis’. This is exactly what the PiPrime utilises. A special ceramic granulate on the surface triggers a natural process: tiny seed crystals form and disappear again to make way for new ones. The water’s chemical composition remains unchanged; the minerals are preserved. But the limescale is restructured so that it no longer builds up on your pots and sinks. This process has been in use since 2009. It is tried and tested, it is chemical-free, and it is truly elegant.
Filter performance in detail
The PiPrime uses the same Pi-technology principle as the Kini, but on a larger scale. A ceramic filter forms the first barrier; it traps coarse particles, sediments and bacteria. Behind this, the PiPrime filter cartridge works with high-performance activated carbon from coconut shells, supplemented by 21 different mineral ceramics. Together, they remove chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, hormone and medication residues, whilst preserving the valuable minerals in the water. The pH value is shifted into the slightly alkaline range, typically between 6.8 and 7.5. This is precisely the range our body prefers.
The major advantage over the Kini: thanks to the larger filter volume and slower flow rate, the water has more contact with the filter media. Gravity sets the pace, and nature cannot be rushed. The result is water whose biophysical quality comes very close to that of a natural mountain spring.
What’s included in the package
The PiPrime K8 or K2 comes fully equipped: ceramic filter, PiPrime filter cartridge, 6 limescale filter pads and an Oxosanum tablet for disinfection. You unpack it, set it up and you’re ready to go. The Oxosanum tablet is used for the initial disinfection of the system before first use, a step that takes just a few minutes and ensures that your water is perfect from the very first drop.
How long do the filters last?
The Pi-Prime cartridge lasts 8 to 12 months. The ceramic filter also lasts around 12 months. You change the limescale pads every 4 to 8 weeks. That’s not very often. It’s practical. Even if you filter a lot, the annual costs and effort involved are manageable. And if you compare the lifespan with the costs: a PiPrime supplies a family with living water for a whole year for a fraction of what bottled water would cost. What’s more: no lugging around, no plastic, no transport.
The PiPrime as a design object
What surprises many people is that the PiPrime isn’t just a water filter, but a piece of furniture. The hand-blown glass with its subtle blue hue and clean lines is something you’ll want to show off, not hide. In a modern kitchen, the PiPrime sits on the worktop like a water dispenser from another era. Some customers say: “It’s the most beautiful piece in my kitchen.” That makes us happy. But we’re even happier when they say: “The water tastes fantastic.”
Optional: The Flower of Life
You can order the PiPrime with a sandblasted engraving. The “Flower of Life”, measuring 19 centimetres in diameter, is engraved on the base of the container. For some, it is a symbol that supports the revitalisation of the water. For others, it is simply beautiful. Both are fine. The quality of the water is identical, with or without the engraving.
For families, for offices, for everyone who drinks a lot
The PiPrime isn’t just for private individuals. Many offices use it because staff have constant access to good-quality water. Some hotels use it in their rooms. The reason is simple: once you’ve tasted revitalised water, you’ll miss it later. The PiPrime makes it possible to never have to miss it again.
